December 7th, 2021-BOSTON – Boston Realty Advisors, the largest Boston-based independent real estate brokerage, and Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates, Inc. of Worcester are exclusively representing the owners of 10-14 Arrow St., a building with a rich history that extends to prominent Mount Auburn Street in Harvard Square, for sale.

Originally home to the Reversible Collar Co., 10-14 Arrow St. is about 55,500 square feet on five floors, built throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Harvard Square, one of the Greater Boston addresses that is most known worldwide, is home or adjacent to prestigious universities, including Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a key part of the biotech hub of the world. 10-14 Arrow St. offers tenants a wealth of amenities, transportation options and serves off the constricted Kendall Square office and life sciences market.

“This handsome building offers investors an opportunity to acquire a truly rare asset located in one of the most desirable locations on the planet,” said Kevin Benzinger, Director of Capital Markets at Boston Realty Advisors. “The brick structure with additional height is offered for sale on an unpriced basis. We will be conducting tours of the property with a call-for-offers soon to follow.”

Cambridge is a world-renowned city, a premiere market, and 10-14 Arrow St. is an institutional quality property. The City represents both stable investment quality and long-term growth opportunity and is an epicenter of life science research and development globally.

The property is easily accessible for anyone walking, biking, or riding around the Metro Boston Area. It sits near a public transit, the MBTA’s Red Line, dubbed the “Brain Train,” providing immediate access to Alewife, MIT, and burgeoning employment centers in Kendall Square and downtown Boston.

The area also has unmatched amenities, including some of the best restaurants in New England, boutique shops and markets, as well as museums and galleries. Rents in the East Cambridge and Kendall area are by far the most expensive in greater Boston and are expected to continue rising.

The property consists of several buildings constructed separately between 1862 and 1907 and gradually combined into a single structure. The oldest portions were reportedly built by Allen and Farnham, a printing business. The property was sold to the Reversible Collar Company in 1867, which expanded the facility.

The buildings on the site were sold to the Boston Bookbinding Company in 1897. In the late-1960s the building was converted to office and commercial space, according to Wikipedia.

George K. Snow developed an improved manufacturing process for paper collars, according to historycambridge.org. “Spurred by this invention, Snow entered into a collaboration with March Brothers and Pierce & Company and established a business in Boston to produce and distribute these collars,” the site recalls. “Snow established the firm of The Reversible Collar Company and moved the production facilities from Boston to Arrow Street in Cambridge.”
